When it comes to renovation work, most people only see the glamourous side of the finished product. However, each house comes with a past, a past that needs to be demolished before the beautifying starts. Like the age-old saying that beauty is pain, renovation work is no exception. In this newsletter, let us bring you on our 2-months journey revamping a home in Serangoon.

The main highlight of the house (beside the dogs) is definitely the staircase. We switched up the railing from a traditional one to a modern and unique one. To abide with BCA ruling, we customized a special wooden railing with lights on the wall.

Fresh & Bright
The floor and walls of a home are usually always overlooked but in reality, it is the bread and butter of any renovation work. For this project, we decided to dump the darkish wooden floors for bright grey tiles and light wooden vinyl. We also designed the house in a way that it seems fresher and spacious through carpentry work using light laminates and playing with textures.

Window of Opportunity
The original condition of the kitchen like the rest of the house seemed gloomy with the use of a black glossy laminate and a greyish stone top. During the process, we saw an opportunity to widen the door area and to also cut out a hole in the middle to allow more light to pass through. The new cabinets were dressed with a light laminate and a white stone top to assist in brightening the place up as well. Not only is there ample storage but the kitchen looks spacious and inviting.
